- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13727573, 7 years agoi just enabled this at version 3.0.8 and it brought back tabs i had closed today.
also it moved some tabs to a hidden menu and when i click the icon, i see this:
"Found hidden unsynchronized tabs. Click on tab to show it into current group/window or:
Move all of this tabs into current group/window
Create new group with all of this tabs
Close all of this tabs"
if i disable it now, i'm worried i'll lose those hidden tabs. this is really not a good design. if i enable this addon, it should not mess around with my tabs and risk losing them. i might disable it now and lose those tabs.
you really need to keep this addon from messing with users' tabs.
and "this tabs" should be corrected to "these tabs"
ok, so i clicked "move all tabs into current group". it's kind of fixed the lost tabs, but now i have some duplicates and the when i had enabled it first, the tabs to the right of the addons tab, moved to the top so they're to the right of my last pinned tab.
please fix all these bugs !Developer response
posted 7 years agoIf you turn off the addon, the browser will show all the tabs hidden by this addon.
If you turn on the addon - then it tries to restore the previous state before it disable.
You can move tab to other group by right click on tab (context menu).
I corrected the translation "this tabs" to "these tabs". This update will available in next release. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12682261, 7 years agoIt makes the life of a Web developer a lot more productive.
Can't wait to see what future improvements will bring us. :-) - Rated 5 out of 5by SabaiDeeMak, 7 years agoWow, finally on FF Quantum (FF61, 07/2018): we have old good Tab Groups and even better and more customizable. I like custom icons for groups - very handy. Thanks, developer! <3
- Rated 5 out of 5by jusuff, 7 years agoFinally, a fully functional replacement for the good old TabGroups!
After the last release, the tabs are finally not reloaded after switching groups. Taking into account the limitations of the new API, this extension deserves 6 stars.
Thanks Drive4ik! Now I can use Firefox just like I used to before WebExtensions era. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13616213, 7 years agoJust seen the permissions for this plugin... Wow! Access your data for all websites // Store unlimited amount of client-side data... That means you'll know as much about me as my own family! What you going to do with all that?
TO Drive4ik: Ok I'll take your word for it. Putting back 5 starsDeveloper response
posted 7 years agoThis addon does not collect or send any data anywhere. These rights are necessary for the operation of the extension, so is the Firefox WebExtension API
Here is the source code https://github.com/Drive4ik/simple-tab-groups, you can view it yourself and see for yourself.
There is only one option in the settings that sends the url address to a special google address to get favicon in certain cases. This option is disabled by default. It is called "Use tabs fav-icons from Google S2 Converter"
Sorry for my English

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14066212, 7 years agoFinally a working Tab Group solution, hide tab API is a real panacea
Only caveat is that tab management itself is a tab - Rated 5 out of 5by Tixie, 7 years agoFinally the group tab feature is back more than never with the hide-tabs API \o/
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14128048, 7 years agoGiven the poor state FF API has been in ever since Quantum, this is as good a replacement for Tab Groups as can be expected. There is a rather unfortunate and extremely annoying issue where when you switch to a different group, your current tab moves to the new group, but otherwise it seems to work more or less as well as you could expect. I wish there was an option to close the "group management" tab when you select a tab in it, the way group management worked in tab groups.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13671618, 7 years agoStill one of the best Addons and one of the reasons I still use Firefox!
Thanks to the dev that he understands the needs of the users and keeps the core functionality like it is.
I see that some people give one star because this doesn't work as a library (only open tabs are kept in groups). Please keep it this way!
Thank you! - Rated 5 out of 5by rcsilva83, 7 years agoGreat work! I've been missing the old Tab Groups so much and this extension is the perfect substitute. Thank you very much!
- Rated 5 out of 5by The Beard Below My Chin, 7 years agoCalling it Simple is a bit of misnomer; it's more feature complete than the 'Panorama View' add-ons. Speaking of which has the "free range" aspect that this add-on desires. So with the new update, it acts as a good replacement for like the original "Tab Groups", it's not a perfect 1:1 but that's alright. The issue of tabs loading all at once, or closing are a thing of the past. I've switched back to this and look forward to future developments.
Consider adding Dark theme and DuckDuckGo icon proxy service (example: https://icons.duckduckgo.com/ip2/youtube.com.ico). I'd rather use that over Google s2.Developer response
posted 7 years agoHi! Very good idea with "DuckDuckGo icon".
Thanks for your review! - Rated 5 out of 5by Aaron Lasseigne, 7 years agoGreat to have tab groups back with this extension. Now that the tab hiding API is available and used it's fantastic. Thanks for the excellent work on it!
- Rated 5 out of 5by Júnior Silva, 7 years agoI was waiting for this update, now the extension is very good! Thank you!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Roger, 7 years agoIn this version of Firefox 61.0 the tabs are hidden in all the sites except the thumbnails of the Windows taskbar where all the groups of all the groups are shown together. I think it did not happen before. Just fix this so that the extension is perfect and 5*
Edit 1:
Thanks for your response. We hope that later it can be fixed (the thumbnails are very practical).
Another error that I have found is that when closing the last tab of a group, instead of appearing the Newtab page or disappearing this group, the last tab of the previous group is moved there. I've only been able to try it with 2 groups.Developer response

Sorry, but Firefox Webextensions can't access to this browser area/configuration/options, but you can disable tab previews in win taskbar
http://prntscr.com/k02huq - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 11904512, 7 years agoNice legacy Tab Groups replacement on quantum! Most of hotkeys for switching groups can almost recover the legacy one except those limitation in extensions (That's no choice). Good to see this release just before legacy Firefox ESR end of support. Thanks for bringing the final hope and allow for move on quantum seamlessly.
I am looking forward to the free arrange be implemented and that will be fully replace, and/or even enhance of legacy Tab Groups.
Suggestion: Is it possible close the "Manage Groups" tab after switching groups? Otherwise whenever using hotkey to open "Manage Groups", it will switch back to the group with "Manage Groups" tab. The current solution is uncheck 'Open "Manage Groups" in new tab'.
Edit: already in STG 3.0.7, not experimental
Edit 2: Thanks for response. One more suggestion: how about close "Manage Groups" tab when it is inactive OR hide all other tabs when "Manage Groups" is active (so user must choose a group or close it to remain in current group)? This can force the "Manage Groups" tab never belongs to any groups, which prevent group auto switching when opening "Manage Groups".Developer response

I will make close manage groups tab in future versions - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14123352, 7 years agoI like most everything about this EXCEPT for the fact that the tabs reload whenever switching groups. That's very annoying. For example, if I download something in one tab, wait for it to complete, switch to a different tab group, and then switch back, the tab reloads and the file start to download again. That's just one example of the annoying behavior.
If it wasn't for that, I would be satisfied and would stop looking for a better tab manager. As it is, the search continues.
UPDATE: A later version of this fixed the tab reload issue, so now I'm much happier with it.
