by Firefox user 18767885, 10 months agoSorry, I didn't keep my login details, I am 18763788. I'm sometimes a little overzealous about privacy and creating accounts...
Also sorry about my english, I'm belgian, speaking french.
I watch a lot of english content and YES, YouTube force translated (dubbed) audio along titles and descriptions! Those fake AI voices are nightmare.
Having the choice to turn this on is not bad. But in fact, we have to turn this off on EACH video. We feel cheated by the translated titles and taken for idiots with the dubbing.
So, you speak english but if your account language is different, or maybe because of your location, the nightmare begins...
I'm exaggerating a bit, but I read comments from people who don't understand what's going on. (firefox, reddit, google, ...)
I'm looking for a serious solution almost every day, and the number of dissatisfied people is growing more and more.
Again, maybe I am overzealous but I prefer to trust one single addon. Especially if the source code is available. (currently, I'm just testing in a sandbox... you can call me paranoid ^^)
Other addons or scripts have already been created but are no longer maintained and does not work anymore.
I believe that a complete addon can become popular, if Youtube does not listen to its frustrated users. This may motivate to keep it up...
Here is the currently working addon:
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/original-youtube-audio/
There may be some interesting information in the comments. I'll keep my login details to answer you, if needed!
Have a great 2025!

- Rated 5 out of 5by aki.senkinn, a month agoI hate that I need this, my system is in english, my browser is in english, my google account is in english, my activity and history is all english, why is youtube forcing a different language on me with terrible low quality translations.
Add-on works great, i don't have the quality setting issue some people are reporting either.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12194226, a month agoIt works and doesn't seem to make loading times worse for me.

- Rated 3 out of 5by La Fougne, a month agoWorks well but youtube is stuck at 360p when activated... That's a real problem.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Sakujo, a month agoWhile it does seam to work (haven't had translated videos in a while), it does also slow down video load by a lot. Sometimes half a minute per video load. Maybe an issue with some combination of other YT plugins I have. But when this plugin is enabled it is definitely part of the cause. Disabled, videos load fast, in seconds. Other plugins I use: ublock origin, Sponsor block, youtube repeat button, return youtube dislike, remove youtube endcard, blocktube, auto high quality for YT. I don't want to rate it low, that wouldn't be fair, but obviously there is some issue.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Bueno, a month agoIt does work, but for some reason when I use it, the only option for quality youtube offers is 360p. Can't use lower or higher resolution.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18146655, a month agoDoes not work for me on mobile because it interferes with play-back of any video.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19475905, 2 months agoIt works, but unfortunately, it's overzealous. When I try to change the audio track or automatically translate subtitles, the add-on won't let me. This limitation of functionality is a no-go for me.
 Edit:
Thanks for answer. If there is no way to know where the change came it is not fair to rate so low. Changed to four :)Developer responseposted a month agoThe addon has no way of knowing if the change came from you or from YouTube. If you want, you can always disable the addon (it has a quick menu, see screenshots) and turn it on later
- Rated 3 out of 5by Devin Rozsas, 2 months agoIt works with some things, such as chapters (and not really that well), and video titles on my feed are still translated.
